Introduction to Distillery Safety

This course provides essential safety training for individuals working in an Australian distillery, covering key safety requirements and responsibilities. It emphasises the importance of adhering to safety protocols and highlights the potential consequences of non-compliance.

Learning outcomes include:

• Understand entry safety requirements for working in a distillery.
• Learn about safety programs and their significance.
• Familiarise with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.
• Understand risk assessments.
• Identify and mitigate key dangers in a distillery environment.
• Introduction to working with dangerous goods.
• Learn about working in hazardous areas.
• Discover resources for accessing relevant legislation.
• Knowing the risks involved in distillation.
• How to read a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)

This one day, in person course is for Australian distillers or those aspiring to work in an Australian distillery. The course is available to any employee or personnel of, or anyone who wants to work in an Australian Distillery.

Course facilitator: Adam Chapman 

Adam is a qualified Trainer and Assessor TAE 40122 and holds a Diploma in Work, Health and Safety and is a co-writer of the 91É«ÇéƬ Safety Course with Kristina from Validus. He owns and runs his own education business called Wine and Spirit Inc where he has been training nearly 450 students in Wines or Spirits education within Australia.

Adam is a qualified distiller for NIL DESPEANDUM Distillery at Woombye, Qld for the last 5yrs and is also a qualified winemaker for 33 years working in France and Australia. He has been educating for 12 years and distilling for 5 years with qualifications in Distilling, Winemaking, Project Management and WSET Diploma. He also has certifications in Sensory Science for spirits and is the only Certified Spirits Judge and Master Rummelier in Australia.

The Introduction to Distillery Safety is an is un-accredited course designed to serve as a guide to empower people in the distilling industry to better seek and apply specific safety advice for their unique circumstances.
